Township Inspector's harassment and double standard?

I am homeowner building my own house by retaining contractor myself, during inspection building inspector picks on minor details....while the house cross from my house is being build by builder, his one side wall is not five feet from property line so as per code he needs to have fir code rating of 2 hr. on the whole side. but he just took the word of builder and his architect and passed him. i know if i raise this issue twp.will never let me complete my house....twp. has serious issues within them self.....should i fight fire with fire or first should complete my house and then file complain....
