Will my small house dog make my 2 wk old newborn baby sick?

my inlaws (who live next door), and my husband all think that having my tea cup chuwawa(sorry for the spelling)around my 2 wk old baby is not good... if im holding my baby then my dog cant be laying on the couch right next to me, or on my lap. i bath my dog aleast once a wk, and she has always been a healthy indoor dog... are they tripping or is it unsafe?
