What do you know about Michigan Open Carry laws?

I'm 18, and my boyfriend bought "me" a pistol for christmas- well obviously I can't possess it, or buy it myself, because i'm not 21. But I just called the Township police from my area, and he said that we could "transfer" the pistol into my name, and that I can legally open carry it. (of course abiding by the laws of where you can & cannot carry) -any advice from people that do open carry under 21, or from girls who open carry?!
