How and where to go to get trained to become a lifeguard.?

I took my lifeguarding class at the local YMCA. It was 6 weeks every sunday from 12-5. It was a very lengthy progress but well worth it. The course cost around 300 dollars, which seems expensive but you earn it back quick.
